Call it a rebirth, a reawakening of unconsciously suppressed passions; the desire for creativity coupled with the lust for speed. It all began innocently enough during Daytona Speedweeks on the eve of the new millennium, roaming pit road with a point-n-shoot Pentax. The bug had bitten.
Good fortune afforded the opportunity to prowl the garages and pit roads of various NASCAR, IRL and USAC events toting a pair of borrowed Nikon N70's equipped with telephoto lenses. The passion ignited.
Enticed to attend the 12 Hours of Sebring armed now with twin D70 Nikons, this oval track addict was introduced to road racing. A couple of doses of historic motor racing a month or two later enhanced the experience. The passion was in full flame.
The Nikons have since been replaced, thanks to a visit from a burgler, with Canon 30D's complete with a mixture of L-series and regular glass.
As an member of both the SCCA and VIR Flagging & Communications corp time at the race track now centers around active participation as a marshal. New venues are being sought in the area of racing photography at this time.
Away from the track the complex persona of this photographer turns to nature and the living world that surrounds us. To that end, a new web page has been developed displaying the best of my scenic and nature photography. Please pay a visit to the new site at:
